What this site does, and what it does not

ToolStorageHQ.com is a reference desk for a home garage. It exists for the moment when you are standing in one holding a screw that will not turn, a shelf you are not sure about, or a remote that has stopped working, and you need a number rather than an article. There are 5 lookup tools, 12 reference pages of tables and ranges, 18 garage opener model pages, and 44 products organized by the one decision each category exists to settle.

Everything here is written to be checked. Where a figure appears, the page says where it comes from and under what conditions it stops being true. Where a tool computes something, the formula it used is printed underneath it along with a list of what it does not account for. That is the whole editorial position: a number without its conditions is not useful, and a number presented without them is worse than no number.

Nothing on ToolStorageHQ.com was measured in a workshop by anyone writing it. There are no test results here, no hands-on comparisons and no claims of personal experience with any product. No page on this site asserts that anyone here has held one, because nobody has.

Specifications come from published standards and from manufacturer documentation, and every reference page names what it drew on. Product figures are the figures the listing states, restated in our own words and never copied. Where a listing states nothing, the pages here say that a figure is not stated rather than filling the gap with an estimate.

There are also no prices and no star ratings anywhere on this site. Both go stale faster than a static page can follow, and a stale price is worse than no price at all.

The 18 garage opener model pages are the most consequential thing on this site, because a wrong answer there means a part that does not program and a return. So they are built under a narrower rule than everything else.

Each model page exists only because at least one product listing collected here prints that model number in its own text. The page reports which listings name it and stops. It does not say that any replacement is accepted by your opener, it does not infer from one model number to an adjacent one, and it does not read a shared LM or MAX suffix as evidence of anything. Where a listing is silent, this site is silent too, and it says so rather than leaving the gap unmarked.

A product listing is a claim by a seller. It is worth something and it is not a manufacturer statement about your hardware. That is why every model page carries steps for checking the match yourself, and why the remote finder will tell you when your combination is unanswered rather than showing you the nearest thing. Product links are Amazon affiliate links, so a qualifying purchase earns this site a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only revenue here. It does not change what the pages say, for the simple reason that the pages are mostly tables of figures with sources attached, and a figure that bends toward a commission is a figure that stops being worth publishing. Corrections are welcome and taken seriously, particularly on figures and model numbers. If something here does not match your hardware, tell us what you have and it will be checked.
